A total of 229 job-ready youth from Davao City and Tagum City are set to finish the second phase of their full cycle employment training under the Job Start Philippines Program.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region XI announced that 109 job starters from Tagum City will graduate on March 1 while 120 job starters from Davao City will graduate on April.

Under the program, the graduating JobStart trainees have undergone 10 days of life skills training, three months of technical training and additional three months of work experience with a “matched” employer/establishment. They also received 75 percent of the minimum wage in their locality during the program internship.

Aside from Tagum City and Davao City, DOLE Region XI has also targeting more areas in Davao Region including Panabo City, Digos City, and Sta. Cruz to provide the youth with fast and direct access to employment through JobStart Program.

The JobStart Program is part of the Technical Assistance Program on Employment Facilitation for Inclusive Growth (EFIG). A synergy between the DOLE, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Government of Canada, it seeks to pave the way for necessary reforms needed to make the country’s labor market more responsive and attuned to the demands of the global economy.
