Workers get free LRT2 rides on May 1
Filipino workers will be treated to free rides at the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2 on May 1, Labor Day.
This was announced today by the Department of Labor and Employment which requested the Department of Transportation to provide free rides to Filipino workers when the nation observes Labor Day next week.
All public and private workers will be treated to free rides during peak periods from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on May 1 upon presentation of their company identification card or any valid government-issued identification card.
Passengers shall adhere to the usual frisking and baggage inspection by LRT Line 2 management and shall follow rules and regulations, including the mandatory wearing of face masks.
The labor department said jobseekers who will troop to the various job fair sites in the National Capital Region and workers who will report for work on Labor Day are anticipated to benefit from the free rides.
It likewise underscored that the gesture not only eases the financial burden of the workers but also recognizes their significant contributions to national development.
The LRT Line 2 serves 13 stations along its 17.6-kilometer (10.9 mi) route. This includes the Recto, Legarda, Pureza, V.Mapa, J.Ruiz, Gilmore, Betty Go-Belmonte, Araneta Center-Cubao, Anonas, Katipunan, Santolan, Marikina-Pasig, and Antipolo stations.
The Department of Labor and Employment will lead the 121st observance of Labor Day with the theme, “Pabahay, Bilihing Abot-Presyo, Benepisyo ng Matatag na Trabaho Para sa Manggagawang Pilipino.” END/aldm

Libreng sakay sa LRT2 para sa manggagawa sa Mayo 1
Makakasakay ng libre ang mga manggagawang Pilipino sa Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2 sa Mayo 1, Araw ng Paggawa.
Ito ang pahayag ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) kung saan hiniling nila sa Department of Transportation (DOT) na magbigay ng libreng sakay sa mga manggagawang Pilipino sa pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Paggawa sa susunod na linggo.
Ang lahat ng manggagawa sa pampubliko at pribadong sektor ay bibigyan ng libreng sakay mula 7:00 hanggang 9:00 ng umaga at mula 5:00 ng hapon hanggang 7:00 ng gabi sa Mayo 1 at kailangan lang nilang ipakita ang kanilang company identification card o anumang valid government-issued identification card.
Kinakailangan din na sumunod ang mga pasahero sa karaniwang frisking at baggage inspection ng LRT Line 2 management at sa mga alituntunin at regulasyon, gayundin ang mandatoryong pagsusuot ng mga face mask.
Sinabi ng labor department na inaasahang makikinabang sa libreng sakay ang mga naghahanap ng trabaho na pupunta sa iba’t ibang job fair sites sa National Capital Region at mga manggagawang papasok sa trabaho sa Araw ng Paggawa.
Ipinahayag din nito na ang libreng sakay sa LRT Line 2 ay hindi lamang para pagaanin ang pinansiyal na pasanin ng mga manggagawa bagkus ay upang kilalanin ang kanilang makabuluhang kontribusyon sa pag-unlad ng bansa.
Ang LRT Line 2 ay may 13 istasyon at 17.6-kilometrong (10.9 mi) ruta. Kabilang dito ang mga istasyon ng Recto, Legarda, Pureza, V.Mapa, J.Ruiz, Gilmore, Betty Go-Belmonte, Araneta Center-Cubao, Anonas, Katipunan, Santolan, Marikina-Pasig, at Antipolo.
