Tourism job fair produces 332 HOTS; Senior High grads land jobs
A total of 332 applicants were hired on the spot (HOTS), while Senior High School graduates also landed jobs during the recent Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso-Philippine Tourism Job Fair in Cebu City.
Of the 332 HOTS, more than 20 of them were Senior High School graduates, who were hired as new dealers, stock clerks, cashiers, service crew, and customer service representatives.
“I’m so happy. Dream job gyud ko ni,” said Jonalyn Terante of Moalboal, Cebu, a fresh graduate with no work experience, who was hired on the spot as a New Dealer at Nustar Resort and Casino.
The positions with the most number of HOTS are the following, namely:
- ESL Teachers;
- Cashiers;
- New Dealers;
- Customer Service Representatives;
- Sales Staff;
- Service Crew;
- Office Staff;
- Customer Assistants;
- Stock Clerks; and
- Baggers.
“The positive turnout of the first-ever Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso: Philippine Tourism Job Fair conducted last week at SM City Cebu showed that the Tourism Industry in Region-VII is revived and is now welcoming back more applicants to complement the workforce it needs,” said DOLE-7 OIC-Regional Director Lilia A. Estillore.
The top participating employers that hired the most number of applicants are as follows:
- QQ English;
- Rulls Cellphones and Accessories, Inc.;
- SM Savemore;
- Nustar Resort and Casino;
- Azpired Inc.;
- SM Supermarket;
- SM Store;
- Supervalue Inc.;
- McDonald’s Philippines; and
- SM Appliance.
“We are grateful to all participating employers especially to those who hired applicants on the spot. We are hoping for more employers joining in our upcoming job fairs and for more applicants, who will be given the opportunity to land a decent job in addition to the new HOTS,” added Director Estillore.
Of the 1,830 jobseekers, who registered, only 1,232 were qualified. About a hundred were referred to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for skills training and around 18 were referred to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for business opportunities.
“The number of HOTS is likely to increase in the coming days as we also have tallied 182 applicants falling under the Near Hires category. In a months’ time, our data will definitely change,” explained the Regional Head.
“Near Hires” or jobseekers considered hired but would still need to submit additional or lacking requirements will be monitored by DOLE and its partner Public Employment Service Office (PESO) – Cebu City’s Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP) headed by Fidel Magno.

May kabuuang 332 aplikante ang hired-on-the-spot (HOTS), habang natanggap din sa trabaho ang mga nagtapos ng Senior High School, sa ginanap na Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso-Philippine Tourism Job Fair sa Cebu City.
Sa 332 na bilang ng mga HOTS, mahigit sa 20 ang nagtapos ng Senior High School at natanggap bilang new dealer, stock clerk, cashier, service crew, at customer service representatives.

Ang mga posisyon na may pinakamaraming bilang ng HOTS ay ang mga sumusunod:

“Ang positibong resulta ng kauna-unahang Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso: Philippine Tourism Job Fair na ginanap noong nakaraang linggo sa SM City Cebu ay nagpapakita ng muling pagbuhay sa industriya ng turismo sa Region-VII at ngayon ay tumatanggap na ng mas maraming aplikante upang tugunan ang kinakailangang manggagawa,” wika ni DOLE-7 OIC-Regional Director Lilia A. Estillore.

“Nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat ng lumahok na employer lalo na sa mga agad na tumanggap ng aplikante. Umaasa kami na mas maraming employer pa ang sasali sa aming mga nalalapit na job fair upang mas marami pang mga aplikante ang mabibigyan ng pagkakataon na makakuha ng disenteng trabaho bilang karagdagan sa mga bagong HOTS,” dagdag na pahayag ni Direktor Estillore.
Sa 1,830 na nagparehistrong naghahanap ng trabaho, 1,232 lamang ang kwalipikado. Humigit-kumulang isang daan ang isinangguni sa Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) para sa karagdagang kasanayan at may 18 naman ang isinangguni sa Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) para mabigyang pagkakataong makapag-negosyo.
“Maaaring tumaas pa ang bilang ng mga HOTS sa mga darating na araw dahil mayroon din tayong naitala na 182 aplikante na nasa ilalim ng kategoryang Near Hires. Sa loob ng isang buwan ay maaaring magbago ang ating datos,” paliwanag ng Regional Head.
Ang “Near Hires” o iyong mga naghahanap ng trabaho na itinuturing na maaaring matanggap ngunit kinakailangan pang magsumite ng karagdagang dokumento ay imo-monitor ng DOLE at ang katuwang nitong Public Employment Service Office (PESO) – Cebu City’s Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP) sa pamumuno ni Fidel Magno.
