TESDA offers online COVID-19 prevention course to schools

With the start of face-to-face classes, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is encouraging schools, students, and parents to avail of its free online course on COVID-19 prevention.

TESDA Director General Danilo P. Cruz said the schools, colleges, and universities both the public and private sector may take online course designed to prevent the spread of the deadly virus among the faculty and studentry.

“As we set to open our schools for full face-to-face classes, we are inviting everyone to enroll in our free online courses related to COVID-19 management to help prevent the spread of the virus and adapt to the changes brought by it,” he said.

“This course is available at and can be easily accessed by the public anytime and anywhere using their internet-capable smartphones, computers, or laptops,” he added.

At the start of the pandemic, it may be recalled that TESDA has developed the online course “Practicing COVID-19 Preventive Measures in the Workplace” which was integrated into its TESDA Online Program (TOP).

The “Practicing COVID-19 Preventive Measures in the Workplace” course has always been among the most popular courses in the TOP.  In 2020, more than 142,000 completed the course, while another 383,826 took it in 2021.

Cruz noted that TESDA has linked free online courses about COVID-19 management from other open sources, such as the “Contact Tracing Course” of the Johns Hopkins University, and “COVID-19: How to put on and remove personal protective equipment (PPE)” and “Standard precautions: Hand hygiene” of the World Health Organization (WHO), among others.

Enrollees to the TOP receive an electronic certificate of completion when they finish a course.  Those who complete courses for full qualifications can undergo a competency assessment and receive a National Certificate.

Aside from the website, the TOP can also be accessed through its own mobile app, which can be downloaded for smartphones via Google Play or App Store.

It offers 150 courses in various sectors including construction, automotive and land transport, electrical and electronics, among others.

Since its launch in 2012, the TESDA Online Program currently has more than four million registered users. ### TESDA


Alok ng TESDA sa mga paaralan, COVID-19 prevention online course

Sa pagsisimula ng face-to-face classes, hinihikayat ng Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) ang mga paaralan, mag-aaral, at magulang na gamitin ang libreng online course nito sa pag-iwas sa COVID-19.

Sinabi ni TESDA Director General Danilo P. Cruz na ang mga paaralan, kolehiyo, at pampubliko at pribadong unibersidad ay maaaring kumuha ng online course na idinisenyo upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng nakamamatay na virus sa mga guro at estudyante.

“Sa pagbubukas ng ating mga paaralan para sa face-to-face class, inaanyayahan natin ang lahat na mag-enrol sa ating libreng online course na may kaugnayan sa pamamahala ng COVID-19 upang makatulong na maiwasan ang pagkalat ng virus at makaagapay sa mga pagbabago na dulot nito,” wika niya.

“Makukuha ang kursong ito sa at madaling ma-access ng publiko anumang oras at kahit saan, gamit ang kanilang mga internet-capable smartphone, computer, o laptop,” dagdag niya.

Sa pagsisimula ng pandemya, matatandaang binuo ng TESDA ang online course na “Practicing COVID-19 Preventive Measures in the Workplace” at ito ay kanilang isinama sa TESDA Online Program (TOP).

Ang kursong “Practicing COVID-19 Preventive Measures in the Workplace” ay palaging kabilang sa pinakasikat na kurso sa TOP. Noong 2020, mahigit 142,000 ang nakatapos ng kurso, habang 383,826 naman ang kumuha nito noong 2021.

Sinabi ni Cruz na ini-link ng TESDA ang mga libreng online course tungkol sa pamamahala ng COVID-19 mula sa iba pang open source, at ilan sa mga ito ay ang  “Contact Tracing Course” ng Johns Hopkins University, at “COVID-19: How to put on and remove personal protective equipment (PPE)” at “Standard precautions: Hand hygiene” ng World Health Organization (WHO).

Makatatanggap ng certificate of completion ang mga enrollees sa TOP kapag natapos nila ang isang kurso. Maaaring sumailalim sa mahusay na pagtatasa o competency assessment at makatatanggap ng National Certificate (NC) ang makakakumpleto ng mga kurso para sa ganap na kwalipikasyon.

Bukod sa website, maaari ding ma-access ang TOP sa pamamagitan ng sarili nitong mobile app, na pwedeng  i-download sa smartphone gamit ang Google Play o App Store.

Nag-aalok din ito ng 150 kurso sa iba’t ibang sektor kabilang ang construction, automotive at land transport, electrical at electronics, at iba pa.

Mula nang ilunsad ang TESDA TOP noong 2012, mayroon na ito ngayong  mahigit sa apat na milyong registered users. #### TESDA/ gmea
