National Conciliation and Mediation Board Executive Director IV Reynaldo R. Ubaldo today hailed the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch IV-A’s constructive and peaceful resolution of the labor dispute at the Skycable Corp./Pilipino Cable Corp. in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, in which the cable company’s management and union mutually agreed to economic benefits amounting to P7,028,217.00 under the company’s collective bargaining agreement.(CBA).
Ubaldo said that the dispute took just twelve days and two conciliation-mediation conferences to settle.
The case stemmed from a preventive mediation case filed by Pilipino Cable Corporation Employees Union on October 3, 2013 due to CBA deadlock.
Ubaldo, said the parties reached settlement on October 16, 2013, paving the way for the conclusion of negotiations for the first three years of their Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Ubaldo said the CBA, which will benefit forty nine workers, retroacts to September 8, 2013 and will expire on September 7, 2015.
“The fast settlement of the dispute was good for both workers and the company. It preserved jobs and ensured industrial peace and harmony which augur well for the continued viability of the company,” Ubaldo said.
He further commended con-med Mario Agustin Minoria for his effort in facilitating the settlement
