Over 4,000 Antiqueños benefit from Php16.8M TUPAD assistance
Around 4,269 informal workers from Antique’s 16 municipalities were more than grateful to receive Php16.86 million in emergency employment assistance under the labor department’s TUPAD program.
DOLE’s flagship employment program provided each beneficiary with Php3,950 in wages for a 10-day community service in their respective communities from May 3-13 this year.
“DOLE goes out to barangays to reach the most number of vulnerable workers. This is social justice as we give them equal access to government’s resources and privileges. They need more from the government so we bring our services closer to them,” Regional Director Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr. said.
Most of the beneficiaries are small vendors, farmers, drivers, fisherfolks, laborers and women earning insufficient income engaged in community service.
In slightly urbanized municipalities, work programs focused on social community projects, such as repair, maintenance, and/or improvement of common public facilities and infrastructures such as schools and health centers, debris clearing, de-clogging of canals, debris segregation and materials recovery, stockpiling and clearing, waste management, coastal clean-up drive and community vegetable gardening.
On the other hand, work programs in municipalities located in mountainous areas consisted of tree planting, road clearing, community gardening and clean-up drive. Also, beneficiaries along the coastal areas engaged in coastal clean-up and community gardening.
“We want to provide a short-term employment to the Antiqueños particularly those belonging to the marginalized sector through TUPAD and to take part in the concerted effort of the local government for further development of the Province of Antique as one of the thriving tourist destinations in Region 6,” DOLE RO NO 6- Antique Field Office Head Carmella Abellar added.
Aside from the prevailing minimum wage of P395.00/day, beneficiaries were also enrolled in a group insurance for social security, provided with personal protective equipment (PPEs) and underwent orientation prior to their employment.
The massive implementation of TUPAD in Antique was undertaken through DOLE’s partnership with the various local government units in the province which includes Anini-y, Tobias Fornier, Hamtic, San Jose de Buenavista, Belison, Sibalom, San Remigio, Valderrama, Patnongon, Bugasong, Laua-an, Barbaza, Tibiao, Culasi, Pandan and Libertad. ### DOLE RO 6

Mahigit 4,000 Antiqueños nakinabang sa P16.8M tulong mula sa TUPAD
Nagpasalamat ang 4,269 impormal na manggagawa mula sa 16 na munisipalidad ng Antique sa natanggap nilang P16.86 milyon sa ilalim ng emergency employment assistance na programang TUPAD ng labor department.
Tumanggap mula sa pangunahing programang pang-empleo ng DOLE ang bawat benepisyaryo ng P3,950 suweldo para sa 10-araw na pagtatrabaho sa kani-kanilang komunidad mula Mayo 3-13 ngayong taon.
“Lumalapit ang DOLE sa mga barangay para abutin ang mga nangangailangang manggagawa. Ito ay katarungang panlipunan dahil binibigyan natin sila ng pantay na pagkakataon na tumanggap ng serbisyo at pribilehiyo mula sa pamahalaan. Mas kailangan nila ang pamahalaan kaya inilalapit natin sa kanila ang mga serbisyo natin,” pahayag ni Regional Director Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr.
Karamihan sa mga benepisyaryo ay mga tindera, magsasaka, tsuper, mangingisda, manggagawa at mga kababaihang hindi sapat ang kinikita sa kanilang komunidad.
Sa bahagyang urbanisadong munisipalidad, ang mga programang trabaho ay nakatuon sa mga proyekto ng panlipunang komunidad, tulad ng pagkukumpuni, pagpapanatili, at/o pagpapabuti ng mga karaniwang pampublikong pasilidad at imprastraktura tulad ng mga paaralan at mga sentrong pangkalusugan, paglilinis, pag-alis ng bara sa mga kanal, paghihiwalay ng mga basura, paglilinis sa baybayin at pagtatanim ng gulay sa komunidad.
Sa kabilang banda, ang mga programang trabaho sa mga munisipalidad na matatagpuan sa bulubunduking lugar ay binubuo ng pagtatanim ng puno, paglilinis ng kalsada, at paghahalaman sa komunidad. Gayundin, ang mga benepisyaryong malapit sa mga baybayin ay nakikibahagi din sa paglilinis at paghahalaman sa kani-kanilang komunidad.
“Sa pamamagitan ng TUPAD, nais naming bigyan ng panandaliang trabaho ang mga Antiqueño partikular na ang mga nasa marginalized sector at makibahagi sa sama-samang pagsisikap ng lokal na pamahalaan para sa pagpapaunlad ng lalawigan ng Antique bilang isa sa mga umuunlad na destinasyon ng mga turista sa Region 6,” dagdag pa ng DOLE RO NO 6- Antique Field Office Head Carmella Abellar.
Bukod sa umiiral na minimum na sahod na P395.00 bawat araw, naka-enrol din ang mga benepisyaryo sa group insurance, mayroon din silang personal protective equipment (PPEs) at sumailalim sa oryentasyon bago pa man sila pinag-trabaho.
Isinagawa ang malawakang implementasyon ng TUPAD sa Antique sa pamamagitan ng pakikipagtulungan ng DOLE sa iba’t ibang pamahalaang lokal sa lalawigan na kinabibilangan ng Anini-y, Tobias Fornier, Hamtic, San Jose de Buenavista, Belison, Sibalom, San Remigio, Valderrama, Patnongon, Bugasong, Laua-an, Barbaza, Tibiao, Culasi, Pandan at Libertad. ### DOLE RO 6/ gmea
