Aside from the nationwide jobs and career fairs, Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz said the DOLE has lined up other equally valuable activities on Labor Day.

 

“Aside from the jobs and career fairs, our countrymen can look forward to various DOLE activities in their localities. Through these activities, we aim to increase the public’s awareness on our various programs and services,” she said.

 

The Labor Day activities to be held per region are as follows:

 

Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR): 18 to 29 April – skills matching at Baguio City School of Arts and Trade; 1 May – livelihood fair and Diskwento Caravan in Baguio City; and pre-registration of jobseekers at DOLE-CAR

 

Region 1: 1 May – awarding of certificates of compliance to labor laws compliant establishments at SM City, Rosales, Pangasinan

 

Region 2: 28 April – World Quiz Day (quiz bowl and poster making contest); 1 May – blessing and inauguration of DOLE building at the Regional Government Center, Carig, Tuguegarao City; awarding of livelihood checks and awarding of ISO certificates; and Run for Safety at Cagayan Sports Complex, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan

 

Region 3: 28 April – observance of World Safety Day in partnership with the Central Luzon Occupational Safety and Health Network; 2 May – Update on Labor Laws and Issuances with various industrial tripartite councils and small-medium enterprises in Nueva Ecija; 6 May – Labor Day region-wide breakfast forum with different labor groups to strengthen mechanisms on social dialogue to be held at the DOLE regional office

 

Region 4-A: 27 April – on-air labor forum at Radyo Natin 106.3, Tibag, Calamba City

 

Region 4-B: 1 May – livelihood fairs; orientation on training programs by National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB); and processing of application for licensure examination and renewal of professional licenses by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) at Divine World University, Calapan, Mindoro

 

Region 5: 28-29 April – Kabuhayan, Kapalibutan Labor Day-Earth Month Trade Bazaar, a showcase of products of DOLE Bicol’s livelihood beneficiaries, DOLE Building, Legaspi City

 

Region 6: 21 to 27 April – search for outstanding workers/employees in the private sector; 20 May – 2016 Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) Sportsfest; 21 May – Manongs and Manangs Day Out, A Day of Fun for our Kasambahays, Jaro Plaza Gym, Iloilo City; 27 May – Fiesta sa Mayo Para sa Mga Obreros

 

Region 7: 1 May – solidarity run in Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and Cebu City; commemorative program for all formal and informal sector workers with eucharistic celebration, livelihood fair, and one-stop-shop services of RCC 7 and social protection partners, and Diskwento Caravan at USC North Campus, Cebu City; mass registration and enrolment of domestic workers/kasambahay with employers on social protection benefits, Tagbilaran City, Bohol; MOA signing with two establishments for labor and employment education services (LEES) regular video showing, Tagbilaran City Bohol; and signing of City Ordinance No. C-242, s. of 2016, or an ordinance creating the Tagbilaran City PESO and establishment of satellite PESO in all barangays, Tagbilaran City, Bohol

 

Region 8: 1 May – livelihood fairs at Leyte Academic Center, Palo, Leyte and at City Hall Grounds, Ormoc City; Diskwento Caravan and trade fair

 

Region 9: 1 May – livelihood & Diskwento Fair, Dumaguete City; haircut, massage and facial services by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Dumaguete City; one-stop-shop services and information booth from Social Security System (SSS), Philhealth, Pag-Ibig, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR); TESDA skills demonstration and free services; barangay gathering with learning session on Kasambahay Law; and Labor Day celebration for the informal sector (display and sale of DOLE-assisted livelihood projects and services)

 

Region 10: 1 May – foot parade at McArthur Park, Cagayan de Oro City; bloodletting activity, Angel Tree Project, Diskwento Caravan, and foot parade at Kaamulan Folk Arts Theater, Cagayan de Oro City; motorcade and Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) Got Talent, at Aloran Municipal Gym, Misamis Occidental; parade at Plaza Rizal, Iligan City; union learning session at Alemania Hotel, Iligan City; and outreach program/Angel Tree at Iligan City

 

Region 11: 26 to 30 April – pre-registration and mini-job fair at Gaisano Mall, Davao City and at SM Davao City

 

Region 12: 29-30 April – DOLE RCC 12 photo exhibit showcasing best practices and success stories in the region to be held at SM City and at KCC Mall, General Santos City; 1 May – thanksgiving mass at Christ the King cathedral in Koronadal City; motorcade of DOLE and RCC employees with Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (RTIPC) members; DOLE, RCC and RTIPC friendship game (Larong Pinoy), Rizal Park, Koronadal City; distribution of rice packs to identified calamity stricken barangays of Koronadal City; and Zumba for a Cause at Notre Dame Of Marbel University (NDMU) Gymnasium, Koronadal City

 

CARAGA: 1 May – Labor Day parade, Guingona Park, Butuan City; launching of Best Employer and Employee of the Year for Private Establishments, Almont Inland Resort, Butuan City; free massage services for jobseekers and for participating employees of private establishments, Almont Inland Resort, Butuan City; and 2016 Labor Day for the Informal Sector at Tandag City, San Francisco City, Surigao City, and Dinagat Island

 

Negros Island Region: 1 May – “Lakaw ta Para sa Batang Negrense” walk for a cause in Dumaguete City; and Labor Day Program at Silliman University

 

Anchored on the theme, “Kinabukasan Sigurado sa Disenteng Trabaho”, the 2016 Labor Day celebration underscores the DOLE’s effort in developing the country’s top resource—the workers, and in generating decent and productive jobs to secure a brighter future for the country.
