Job, business fair; OFW hospital highlight on Labor Day

Simultaneous job and business fair in 29 sites across the country will mark the nationwide observance of Labor Day next week, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said on Monday.

Bello said among the highlights of the May 1 festivities is the groundbreaking of the first-ever OFW hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga, “to showcase the Duterte administration’s grateful recognition of our overseas Filipino workers and the Filipino workingmen in general.”

Initially, the Bureau of Local Employment placed at more than 1,500 the participating employers who will be bringing with them over 200,000 local and overseas jobs in the massive Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) and Build Build Build job and business caravan.

The main site for the combined TNK-BBB job and business fair is at the Kingsborough International Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga where an initial 150 employers (130 local and 20 overseas placement agencies) will offer vacancies. Available jobs locally are mostly in the field of construction under the government’s Build Build Build program, while skilled professionals, including English teachers for Thailand, are open for overseas placement.

Also at the same site will be simultaneous learning sessions on topics such as the Philippine Qualifications Framework by the Department of Education; How to Start a Business by the Department of Trade and Industry; and skills demonstration by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, which will also raffle off 100 training scholarships. The National Reintegration Center for OFWs and Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns will conduct a livelihood seminar for interested jobseekers, while the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration will hold a Pre-Employment Orientation, with Pag-IBIG Fund providing information on the fund’s benefits.

The nearby soon-to-rise OFW hospital will be financed by Overseas Workers Welfare Administration donors, to be administered by the Department of Health. The property where it will stand is donated by the provincial government of Pampanga. At the groundbreaking, OWWA will award livelihood packages worth P20,000 each to 100 OFWs under OWWA’s Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay program.

Other job and business fair sites identified were Ayala Mall South Park, Muntinlupa City; Vista Mall, Tuktukan, Taguig City; and City Social Hall and Sports Complex, Paranaque City in the National Capital Region.

In Luzon, the following are the TNK sites: Baguio City High School–Main Campus in the Cordillera Administrative Region; Magic Mall, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan; Robinsons Ilocos Norte Activity Center, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte; and Pangasinan PESO Compound, Lingayen, Pangasinan in Region 1; Cagayan Coliseum, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan in Region 2; Provincial Government of Bulacan (April 30); Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija; and Bocaue, Bulacan (May 2) in Region 3.

Also in Luzon, there will be job and business fair sites in CALABARZON at Pacific Mall, Lucena City, Quezon; and at Robinson’s Mall, Tejero, City of General Trias, Cavite (May 2); in MIMAROPA at Bulwagang Panlalawigan, Provincial Capitol Complex, Camilmil, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro; and at Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; and in Bicol Region at Pacific Mall, Legazpi City, Albay.

Jobseekers in the Visayas region may visit the TNK sites in Robinson’s Place-Jaro, Iloilo City (Region 6); Trade Hall, SM City Cebu; Mandaue City Hall, Centro, Mandaue City; Social Hall, Cebu Provincial Capitol; and Main Atrium, Robinson’s Place, Calindagan, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental (Region 7); and Tacloban Convention Center, Tacloban City; and Ormoc City Superdome, Ormoc City (Region 8).

In Mindanao, the identified job fair sites are in KCC Mall de Zamboanga (Region 9); The Atrium, Limketkai Mall, Cagayan de Oro City (Region 10); Gaisano Mall of Davao City (Region 11); KCC Convention and Events Center, General Santos City (Region 12); and Balanghai Hotel, Doongan Road, Butuan City (CARAGA).

This year’s commemoration is observed with the theme ‘Pagpupugay sa Manggagawang Pilipino.’

Magkakasabay na job and business fair sa 29 lugar sa buong bansa ang gaganapin sa paggunita ng Araw ng Paggawa sa susunod na linggo, ani Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III nitong Lunes.

Sinabi ni Bello na isa sa mga tampok na gawain sa Mayo 1 ang groundbreaking ng pinakaunang DOLE-OFW hospital na itatayo sa San Fernando, Pampanga, “pagpapatunay sa pagkilala ng administrasyong Duterte sa mga overseas Filipino worker at sa kabuuan ng manggagawang Pilipino.”

Sa inisyal na ulat ng Bureau of Local Employment, mahigit 1,500 employer ang lalahok kung saan tinatayang aabot sa 200,000 local at overseas job ang iaalok sa malawakang Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) at Build Build Build (BBB) job and business caravan.

Gaganapin ang pangunahing TNK-BBB job and business fair sa Kingsborough International Convention Center sa San Fernando, Pampanga kung saan may inisyal na 150 employers (130 local at 20 overseas placement agencies) ang mag-aalok ng trabaho. Karamihan sa mga lokal na trabaho ay nasa construction sa ilalim ng Build Build Build program ng pamahalaan, samantalang ang mga skilled professional, kabilang ang mga English teachers para sa Thailand, ay bukas para sa overseas placement.

Magsasagawa din ng learning session sa mga paksang tulad ng Philippine Qualifications Framework ng Department of Education; How to Start a Business ng Department of Trade and Industry; at skills demonstration ng Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, kung saan magpapa-raffle ng 100 training scholarship. Magsasagawa ang National Reintegration Center for OFWs at Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns ng livelihood seminar para sa mga interesadong naghahanap ng trabaho, samantalang magbibigay naman ang Philippine Overseas Employment Administration ng Pre-Employment Orientation, habang ang Pag-IBIG Fund ay mamahagi ng impormasyon tungkol sa kanilang mga benepisyo.

Ang itatayong OFW hospital, na tutustusan ng donors ng Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, ay pangangasiwaan ng Department of Health. Ang lupa kung saan ito itatayo ay mula naman sa donasyon ng provincial government ng Pampanga. Sa gaganaping groundbreaking, magbibigay ang OWWA ng livelihood package na nagkakahalaga ng P20,000 sa 100 OFWs sa ilalim ng Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay program ng OWWA.
