DOLE sets deployment of new job search kiosks by end of March
Finding employment opportunities in the job market will become even easier with the deployment of 200 additional job search kiosks (JSKs) in the country’s 16 regions, seven DOLE offices, bureaus, and attached agencies, including the Commission on Higher Education.
Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz said this yesterday as she announced that the DOLE, through the Bureau of Local Employment, is set to complete the deployment of the JSKs by the end of March this year.
“The deployment of the kiosks is a boost to sustaining the progress of employment facilitation and in investing in the country’s human resource as pillars of decent work towards inclusive growth,” said Baldoz.
“The task of facilitating job matching and placement of job seekers as one of DOLE’s strategies is enriched with the aid of information and communications technology. The JSK serves as a virtual jobs fair site which will regularly churn out employment opportunities in the job market,” she added.
Dominique R. Tutay, Director of the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE), said the inspection teams from the BLE, Bureau of Working Conditions, and the DOLE Planning Service, have examined and approved the deployment of the 200 next-generation JSK units and these are already scheduled for distribution and installation all over the country through the DOLE Regional Offices starting February until March 2015.
A total of 109 existing JSKs operating in the DOLE central and regional offices will be also upgraded and refurbished to synchronize with the BLE’s stepped up campaign to provide access to numerous job opportunities.
The JSKs deployed in 24 sites nationwide will be maintained and operated by designated focal persons.
A Job Search Kiosk is an information portal housed in an ATM-type, stand-alone equipment, which provides information on local/overseas job opportunities and other employment related information. It helps job seekers to fast-track access to relevant information on job openings, hiring requirements of employers or upgrade, their skills through the TESDA programs and BLE career guides.
