TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment in Region 8 (Eastern Visayas) has formally launched its new website www.ro8.dole.gov.ph. The launching was held during the DOLE-RO8 Nutrition Month Celebration and Launching of the Breastfeeding Room on July 19, 2010.
This is in line with the DOLE’s “Ready Tech Go! Project Deliverable,” under which a standard regional website is being created for all DOLE Regional Offices to reach out to the people and bring DOLE services closer to them. The new Secretary of Labor Rosalinda D. Baldoz, like her predecessor Secretary Marianito D. Roque, wants the DOLE regional websites to be in full place.
DOLE-8 Regional Director Forter G. Puguon said the public can now easily access the programs and services of DOLE with the new website. In going on line, the DOLE-8 hopes to effectively communicate to the people what the Department is doing to fulfill its mandate to promote gainful employment opportunities, develop human resources, protect workers and promote their welfare, and maintain industrial peace.
Aside from information on programs, services and projects that the DOLE offers, clients may also access news releases on all the activities of the Department, the latest minimum wage, and downloadable forms to make it easier for them to transact official business, including joining the bidding process.
A copy of the Labor Code and DOLE Citizen Charter is also posted online to help researchers, lawyers, labor organization, employers and students.
DOLE RO8 Information Systems Analyst Demmie Jose Uyvico and Labor Communications Officer Virgilio A. Doroja, Jr. serve as web administrator and web manager, respectively.
Puguon encourages clients and stakeholders in the region to visit the new website and enjoy surfing for information about labor and employment.
