Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III yesterday said that the Department will install a 24/7 hotline service to provide immediate information and address the queries of Filipino workers and their families.
“The hotline will respond to all pertinent queries and complaints of workers, employers, and other sectors,” said Bello.
He added that the 24/7 hotline service of DOLE will help meet the challenge of communicating DOLE assistance and services to workers, employers, and other clients.
Bello said the proposed 24/7 hotline will also enable workers to access information on local and overseas vacancies, as well as updates and services, being provided by DOLE bureaus and attached agencies, including the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
Currently, the DOLE has a Call Center, known as S.M.I.L.E. for Serbisyong Magalang, Mahusay na Impormasyon sa Labor and Employment. The DOLE Call Center hotline number is 527-8000.
The DOLE Call Center S.M.I.L.E. is open on Mondays to Saturdays from 6:00 A.M. to 6:30 P.M. It has a complement of six composite staff from different DOLE offices.
In 2015, the DOLE Call Center received 55,917 calls and replied to 62,264 queries on labor and employment related concerns from workers, employers, and other sectors.
Bello said that 24/7 hotline service is in response to Pres. Rodrigo R. Duterte’s directives that every government agency should set up a hotline which will serve Filipino citizens.
