Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz has expressed sincere and wholehearted appreciation, on behalf of the Philippine government, for the offer of help of Mathilda Equipment Group, an Australian heavy equipment supplier, to ship a large and wide variety of specialist heavy earth-moving equipment and disaster-support equipment to assist in the Philippines’ post-Typhoon Yolanda disaster relief and rehabilitation effort.
Responding to an e-mail by John Wells, Mathilda Equipment Group business manager, Baldoz said she is moved by the generous offer and took it upon herself to forward the offer to Secretary Rogelio Singson of the Department of Public Works and Highways. Singson is in-charge of the Cabinet cluster on infrastructure.
“He is in the best position to advise you on a possible joint partnership. The Department of Labor takes care of the cluster on employment and livelihood,” Baldoz said in response to Wells’ e-mail.
Matilda Equipment Group offered its support to the Philippines after Typhoon Yolanda struck many parts of Central Visayas, through an e-mail coursed through the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office, which referred the letter-offer to the labor and employment chief.
In his e-mail, Mr. Wells said Matilda Equipment Group supplies heavy earth-moving equipment, such as specialized vehicles, 4×4 ambulances, buses, lighting towers, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, rock Breakers, rollers, graders, and trucks to the mining and civil construction sectors on a dry hire basis and a leading equipment supplier within Australia, in Papua New Guinea, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
Wells said he is planning to visit the Philippines next week to discuss his offer of support. END
