Baldoz announces 50 more job fairs in April and May

Labor and Employment and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz yesterday said the DOLE has lined up an initial 50 more job fairs nationwide this April and May to provide graduates and job seekers venues to look for jobs and meet potential employers, or, for new entrants to the labor market, just to get a “feel” of the job search process.

“The number is preliminary and on top of the over 100 job fairs we have this March. Our regional offices are lining up some more job fairs for the next two months and the months beyond because job fairs are nationwide activities of the DOLE,” said Baldoz, adding:

“The DOLE works to make it easy and fast for jobseekers to find jobs that fits their qualifications, interests, and career inclinations. Conducting job fairs serves the purpose,” said Baldoz, who explained that  job fairs are mandated by R. A. 8759, also known as the PESO Act of 1999.

Following the law, the DOLE conducts job fairs periodically to bring in one venue job seekers and employers for matching. Jobseekers can easily access the job fair schedules online in the Phil-JobNet system through the URL,  The April-May job fair schedules are as follows:

The DOLE’s Bureau of Local Employment and its regional offices supervise these job fairs, which are held in convenient and accessible locations designed to ensure that job applicants are protected from illegal recruiters. Employers who participate in the job fairs are also thoroughly screened and validated.

Baldoz reminded job seekers that no fees are ever collected from job applicants, and even private sector-organized job fairs are conducted with DOLE’s permission with no charges or fees before, during, or after, the fair. Also, no participation fees are collected agencies or employers participating in DOLE job fairs.

She advised job applicants to brush up on relevant labor market information the DOLE continuously disseminates to help them map out their careers wisely.

“This is one of the best ways you can match yourselves with jobs, or even be hired-on-the-spot during job fairs,” advised Baldoz.

“For first-time job seekers, I advise you to accept the first job that comes way. This is how to earn experience and pick up job-ready skills,” she added.
