Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz lauded the Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan (GKK) champions of the National Capital Region under the 10th Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan Award, the biennial activity organized by the Occupational Safety and Health Center.
“The DOLE celebrates the advances in occupational safety and health every time the GKK is held. By winning the GKK, you have made a huge investment in the welfare and protection of Filipino workers, and have set yourselves as examples of excellence in occupational safety and health,” Secretary Baldoz said, as she addressed the regional GKK winners.

“The competition for the coveted GKK is more stringent this year with the new two-tiered scheme for selecting winners – the regional and national levels. Applicants had to pass more levels of scrutiny than before, and I can say that the winners are indeed, the best of the best,” the DOLE chief said.

The GKK is a biennial award given by the DOLE in recognition of the outstanding achievements of establishments and individuals in terms of responding to the safety and health needs of workers, workplaces, and the community.
It aims to encourage companies to voluntary implement their own safety, health and environment programs and in the process achieve productivity and zero accident in the workplace and be a benchmark for others in their respective industries.
As part of the DOLE’s Incentivizing Compliance Program, the GKK is one of the five awards a company must acquire in order to obtain the Tripartite Seal of Excellence given by the President of the Republic of the Philippines. Establishments awarded with GKK and two other DOLE awards are qualified to vie for the Tripartite Seal of Excellence given by the DOLE Secretary.
The GKK is open to public and private establishments, from small to large scale enterprises with certificates of compliance issued by the DOLE’s regional offices, individuals with outstanding OSH contributions or innovations, and micro or informal sector enterprises with innovative OSH practices.
