65 medical representatives benefit over P9.7 M economic package in three year CBA
Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz yesterday announced the settlement of the notice of strike (NOS) filed by the wokers’ union at Fresenius Kabi Philippines, Inc., a company engaged in the distribution of products/medicine for therapy and care of critically and chronically ill patients.
Citing a report of the National Conciliation and Mediation Board executive director Reynaldo Ubaldo, Baldoz said the settlement came after the parties mutually agreed to conclude their three-year CBA containing an economic package of P9, 779,900. The CBA will benefit the companies’ 65 medical representatives.
“I appreciate the effort of the NCMB in facilitating and preventing the notice from becoming a full –blown strike,”said Baldoz
Conciliation and mediation really provides a remedy as an alternative mode of dispute resolution,” she added explaining that an impasse after a notice of strike could delay in negotiating a mutually beneficial agreement.
Fresenius Kabi Philippines, Inc. employs over 70 employees. The company’s workers are represented by Fresenius Kabu Philippines, Inc. Employees Union, an affiliate of the National Association of Trade Unions (NATU).
The union, Ubaldo said filed the notice of strike on 3 October 2012 on the grounds of bargaining deadlock on both the economic and non-economic provisions of their maiden CBA.
On 22 January 2013, after a series of conferences, facilitated by NCMB-NCR conciliator- mediator Angelita S. Narvaez , the parties were able to settle all the labor issues between them.
Baldoz congratulated the union and the management for settling their differences and con-med Narvaez for diligently worked to resolve the issues on bargaining deadlock despite the contending opinions of the parties.
