60k jobseekers on Labor Day online job fair

The labor department’s online job fair drew 60,795 jobseekers nationwide while 300 of them were assured of immediate employment on May 1, Labor Day.

In a report from the Bureau of Local Employment, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said that of the total jobseekers who registered, 13,651 of them were qualified to the different job vacancies.

Of those who qualified, 296 jobseekers were hired-on-the-spot, he added.

Meanwhile, 3,884 were near-hires or those who were considered hired, but still need to submit additional or lacking requirements, or may need to undergo further interviews or exams to fully qualify for the job.

Also, 217 jobseekers were referred to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority for further skills training or re-tooling, 224 were referred to the DOLE’s Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns for livelihood training, and 138 were referred to the Department of Trade and Industry for business inquiries and concerns.

Bello said that these are only initial figures as reports come in from the DOLE Regional Offices.

Conducted in 16 regions, the online job fairs were participated by 665 employers which brought over 50,000 local and overseas jobs from industries such as manufacturing, health, business process outsourcing, textile, and construction. END/aldm

Umabot sa 60,795 aplikante sa buong bansa ang lumahok sa online job fair ng labor department, samantalang 300 naman ang tiyak na natanggap sa trabaho sa Araw ng Paggawa, Mayo 1.

Sa ulat mula sa Bureau of Local Employment, sinabi ni Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III na sa kabuuang bilang ng mga aplikanteng nag-rehistro, 13,651 sa mga ito ang kwalipikado para sa iba’t ibang bakanteng trabaho.

Sa mga kwalipikado, 296 sa mga ito ang hired-on-the-spot, dagdag niya.

Samantala, 3,884 ang near-hires o iyong maituturing na tanggap na ngunit kinakailangang pang mag-sumite ng karagdagan o may kulang na dokumento, o kinakailangang sumailalim pa sa karagdagang interbyu o pagsusulit para maging ganap na kwalipikado sa trabaho.

Dagdag dito, 217 aplikante ang isinangguni sa Technical Education and Skills Development Authority para sa karagdagang pagsasanay o re-tooling, 224 ang isinangguni sa DOLE-Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns para sa pangkabuhayang pagsasanay, at 138 ang isinangguni sa Department of Trade and Industry para sa mga katanungang pang-negosyo.

Ayon kay Bello, ito ay inisyal na bilang pa lamang dahil may mga parating pang report mula sa DOLE Regional Offices.

Ang online job fair ay naganap sa 16 rehiyon at nilahukan ng 665 employer at nag-alok ng mahigit 50,000 trabahong lokal at overseas mula sa mga industriya tulad ng manufacturing, health, business process outsourcing, textile, at construction.
